Common questions

Does my voice or data ever leave my phone?

No. Your Personal and Business books, including anything you say to Aya, stay only in a database on your phone. The one exception is a Circle you choose to create or join, which syncs on purpose so the people in it can see it too.

What is free, and what is Premium?

Free: one Personal book with adding expenses by hand or by typing a line, budgets, wallets, loans, CSV import and export, and any Circle you are already in. Premium unlocks voice capture, receipt and price-tag scanning, creating or joining new Circles, extra Personal books and Business books, grocery trips, widgets, the daily brief and forecast, and every Aura colour. It is a one-time purchase: pay once, no subscription.

I have an older Premium subscription. How do I cancel it?

Premium is now a one-time purchase with nothing to cancel. If you subscribed monthly or yearly in Aya 1.0, that subscription is managed by the App Store, not by Aya: on iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Aya. You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.

I bought Premium but it's locked. How do I restore it?

In Aya, open Settings and tap Restore purchases, signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, email the address above with your purchase receipt.

What is a Circle?

A separate, shared set of books everyone in it logs to and sees: a couple, a friend group, a business, anyone splitting money together. Joining needs no email or password, just a display name and a link, code, or QR from whoever invited you.

How do I get my data out (CSV export)?

Settings → Export. Because Personal and Business profiles have no server, that export is also the only backup that exists for them. Worth doing before you'd hate to lose it.

Why does Aya ask for microphone and speech permission?

Voice capture needs both to turn what you say into an expense. Recognition runs on-device by default; if your phone hasn't downloaded the speech files for your language, the system may process that audio on its provider's servers instead, and Aya tells you on the screen when that happens, rather than doing it quietly.
